CHE cutting's

I have two I grew from seed that are over 20ft tall. Cutting them back this year. Was trying to figure out what to do with the wood. Guess I will be rooting some. :)

I think you will find that they root very easily. The in ground tree here sends up lots of root suckers. Are yours doing that?

Have you gotten fruit from yours? Mine have gotten fruit that past two years, but they have all dropped. I'm pretty sure it is because they are in pots and are not as happy as they would be in the ground.

One has not produced anything yet. The other is doing the same as yours. Producing a bunch of fruit that drops. I am thinking the fruit is not pollinated. Most CHE need male and female to produce.

Did you guys use dormant or fresh cuttings? I tried a few fresh cuttings. One of them grew a fresh leaf, but it fell off. I can get more cuttings, just not sure when I should try.

I have not tried rooting them yet. But if anything like figs. I find fresh root better.

I started my cuttings in spring of 2023, when they were dormant. It worked great and they seem to root easily. I have not done it, but I agree with Mike that I think fresh cuttings would do really well.
