Angelito Breba Is A Standout

Angelito breba has moved into a tie for 1st place or maybe even solo 1st place. The weather here has been super hot and dry and I let Angelito dry on the tree so thats why it may have 1st place to itself over Vince #3. The fig flavor is super concentrated when it can get this ripe. Advice to new fig growers...let your figs ripen properly. Give your figs that extra couple of days because good things come to those who wait. My wife words after the taste test was I hope there's more of them...of course I said NO lol. I can't say how productive Angelito will be for breba growers but the few are definitely a treat. For people growing for breba I recommend Exquisito. I'm not sure my friend Doug is here but thanks to Doug aka Bluemalibu for sharing this with us. 20250816_162003.jpg20250816_162503.jpg

Learn something new everyday. Did not know this one produced a breba. Now I really can't wait for mine to get bigger and start producing.
Invite Doug. :) Edit - It seems Doug is a member here.
As I said I can't say how prolific it will be for breba but they are of high quality. For a test a should pick one at normal ripeness to see how the taste is and I will report back.

I had two brebas on my 1st y.o. long-suffering plant. The first one got stolen by squirrels, the second one is just beginning to swell. I'm guarding it like a hawk.

Your squirrels have good taste. Do what you can. Maybe you can temporarily just cage in the whole tree with whatever you have laying around.
