Figs with unique flavors

Pesca d'oro had a pronounced peach flavor.

Unknown Patiliere (another smyrna) has a really cherry flavor. It wasn't sweet the first year I had some, I didn't see why people liked it so much, but the next year the sweetness came and it was incredible!

Ischia Black has a caramelized sugar base flavor, sometimes more fruity or berry, but that caramelized sugar flavor is always there.

I can identify I-258, Crozes, and HDA pretty easily in a blind test, those are very unique to my taste. I can tell Adriatics apart from other figs, but I don't think I would be able to tell WM#1from Unk Prosciutto in a blind test. Tia Penya is somewhat unique too, I think I would be able to tell it from my other figs. I think VDB also has a unique texture and flavor. BG is newer to me, but I always look forward to eating it and think it has a unique flavor and texture. Maybe not as unique as some other figs, but unique enough IMHO.

Dude, that's got to be the creepiest avatar I've seen in my entire life  I try but I can't unsee it. :ROFLMAO:

UP and IB were some of the first plants I got in SoCal. Yeah, UP have a distinct cherry flavor. I don't quite remember IB. I just restarted both so may not have fruit this season.

I like peach flavor especially a ripe peach.

Izbat an Naj. I would know that one blindfolded for sure. But let me preface my description by saying this is one that does not come into its full potentially until maturity. The flavors will have banana and pineapple at that point, don't expect that I the first few years.
Banana and pineapple sounds great.😋 I had one years ago but never fruit it. Now, I am thinking to restart one.

I had young Crozes and it was definitely different. HdA is a hit or miss for me here. Didn't have too many BG & I-258 even though I had these years ago. Hopefully, I get a chance to try them in the near future. Never had WM1 or Unk Prosciutto. If they are similar in a blind test, which one is more productive or easier to care for?

Didn't have Tia Penya so not sure what it tastes like. It is a late season fig, which I tend to associate with good potential. Another one would be Hivernenca.

What about GM 202? A few years ago, Harvey compared its flavor to durian. I’ve eaten plenty of durian here, but I haven’t grown this fig yet to try it myself
P/S: Sorry, Harvey, for adding a durian into your photo! 😁

I read Harvey had plans to grow durian during his retirement. So, he is probably familar with its taste to say the least. I also had crenshaw melon before and durian when I can afford it here. I am not sure I connect the two but figs from the same tree can taste differently under different growing conditions and age. I wonder who else grow GM-202. It sounds like an interesting fig.
