Buddy's fig

Here's my buddy's fig, think it's a Hardy Chicago type, the leaves are identical to my Hardy Chicago from Edible Landscapes, but his gets a drop of honey from the figs on a constant basis. This past winter it died to the ground and it came back good but I told him it's getting way too bushy and he should pick a few good stalks and get rid of the rest.

What do you guys think?

He has what seems like a hundred shoots coming from the ground but all thin.

It's 12 years old or so, and never protected. It wasn't as bushy before the total die back, he had a few decent size fig trunks going in a few awkward directions--but after this total die back it's growing back as a big bush, crazy amount of shoots!

The same thing is happening to a few of mine but on a much smaller scale. I'm waiting to see which one's I want to keep and get rid of the weaker ones. My neighbor wants them so I'll him the extra's.

A lot of them do send out multiples...it wants to survive for sure. lol
I just let them get a certain size and air layer off.
It's just to easy to get an exact clone that way.
