Really good protection. Very nice.
Impressive, especially given the pretty cold winter we had this year. I am curious though, when do you expect this one to set fruits and ripen them?So I unravelled the box filled with dry soil and got good news. This one year old inground actually survived. Just wanted to give you a heads up on its progress.
It’s too young for this one inground covered in soil. I’ll mainly focus on the growth this year. But the other one that was wrapped in coil is actually growing leaves. I’m hoping end of September given the fact it’s an early variety and its on her 4th season. I’ll take some photo updates.Impressive, especially given the pretty cold winter we had this year. That's going to be a nice bush!So I unravelled the box filled with dry soil and got good news. This one year old inground actually survived. Just wanted to give you a heads up on its progress.
Thank you for the update! It's great that the tree survived with only low tech protection. So I unravelled the box filled with dry soil and got good news. This one year old inground actually survived. Just wanted to give you a heads up on its progress.
I am curious, how many figs did this tree ripen last year and when? I recall last year you posted a picture of in in July, it had a lot of figs on it.Might be our crappy weather, mine is quite far behind last year, with only minimal growth.
Mid September is when they started ripening. Probably got to eat around 20-30, squirrel got the restI am curious, how many figs did this tree ripen last year and when? I recall last year you posted a picture of in in July, it had a lot of figs on it.
I see your point of view. Basically the cold is suppressing its fruit growth. It definitely looks exactly like those tiny nodes showing in your photo. I was looking at them today and it’s slowly looking like it may be figlets in the next 2 weeks.I took one of my trees outside soon after it started to break bud in the garage, IIRC April 24th, and let it be. I want to see how it grows and produces without any assistance here. It grew decent fruiting branches but no figlets yet, and it's almost mid-June. I do see some tiny bumps. I figure, maybe by month's end, I will see pea-sized figlets. I understand that typically, in ground would be 2-3 weeks behind.

Dang no figlets! All my 30 trees are loaded with about a less than 1/4 inch to 1/4 inch figlets. Do the hot bath method next time Joe use hot water in March on a good day. I believe it works.Too many of my trees aren't showing any figs yet this year. Really hope we get a lot more sun and heat really soon.
I do have more weeds in my pots than you do!![]()

Next year I will rig my water hoes to hot water to warm up the roots fir the inground tree.I've got some but nowhere near as many as usual. I think next year I'm going to experiment with the big heat mat on my driveway.
