DMV Spring FigFest May 31st 2025

Next up is De Tres Esplets, a highly productive fig for those growers with short-growing seasons. Last season, my 2-yr old tree from HarveyC began ripening figs in about 56 days starting in early August and was still going strong in October (pictured).

There’s one included in the raffle and one in the giveaway! Give this short-season favorite a try!

Next up is Algerian Cheouti, introduced by Bass from Trees of Joy. Many have compared this fig to Smith (which I think is a good thing as I love my Smith tree). Last year, my 2-yr tree ripened figs in about 100 days with a sweet berry flavor that was a tad softer than my Smith.

The last trees I am donating for this event are 2 Cessac trees. I’ve heard comparisons to Smith (both have the beautiful purple mottling on green skin and deep red interior) while others say it is a more complex flavor. I can’t wait to taste this one and see for myself!

This tree will be available in the raffle on Saturday!

Next fig is Cavaliere (Baud), which was one of my favorite figs last summer. It ripened large, moderately sweet berry figs in about 75 days on my 2-yr old mother tree, which is from HarveyC.

This fig will be available as a giveaway on Saturday! Just show up and maybe win a great fig!

Stunning fig! I had one a while back... It was super difficult for me to get, and I managed to kill it before ever actually eating a fig... Mrrrr

*If you happen to be the person who wins this one.... we should totally hang out! :D

Good luck to all with the event and raffles. Hopefully the weather will clear up after the storms push through tonight.
Thanks so much for the good wishes!

The hour-by-hour forecasts look good--the rain should hold off till after the event is over. In any event, we rent tents and the venue has cover inside some shipping containers and the cidery tasting room itself. There's enough shelter for at least 120 people if needed.

Loading up for DMV Figfest.
