A beautiful surprise this morning

Remember when I posted about my new free apple tree I was told by TY Ty nursery that if a sucker comes up from the rootstock that would make a great pollinator for the variety that's grafted to it? Well low and behold this morning I discovered a sucker coming up. Woohoo!IMG_20250412_103234738_HDR.jpg

My husband wants the tree to have a single trunk. What’s the best way to remove the sucker? dig it up with its roots or air layer it or snip it off and root it like a cutting?

I found this video last night, looks like a very good way to root a sucker of a root stock. When mine gets tall enough I will do it this way. Mine is also a M111
