Went to the Central Coast chapter of California Rare Fruit Growers (CRFG) scion exchange on Saturday (2/22/25).

Met some great people, saw some old friends and had a good time..

I met Ed who who says he independently found Cherry Cordial around the time @figgazer also found it. Ed reportedly as discoverd Raspberry tart...

Grabbed mostly poms and avacado scions this time..

This was one of the flyers I posted on my scions to give out.

Good times!

Your flyer is lovely! Beautiful pics and great info!

Is that a typical turnout and amount of scions for these exchanges? Props to whoever started these get togethers - looks like a great way to meet, chat and share.

That looks like a much bigger than average turn out Joe. I will certainly attend next year. There's a lot of variability from year to year. There are 23 chapters of the CRFG/ California rare Fruit Growers memberships. Attendance can vary from year to year. Last year the Fig table at South Orange County chapter was very large and active. This year not so much. It looks like this event was as active as the San Diego chapter was. Though San Diego has 500 members. I highly recommend our California members to join one or more of these chapters. They are great events. Maybe we'll see you next year @TorontoJoe .

Every chapter has its own monthly meetings . They have monthly meetings all year round. It's a great place to meet somebody like Tom Spelling, from Dave Wilson Nursery, or Venturabananas, David the Fig Hunter sometimes will show up at an event. Leah from Laguna Hills Nursery wow. Also Our recently joined @Margaret Frane sometimes will allow a tour of her amazing Garden. As will other well known gardeners. I myself am a creation of CRFG. There are some chapters in other states as well. Arizona jumps to mind.

of course I tried that before. I would not bother @TorontoJoe without trying first to edit it away . I tried that three times but it just doesn't work on double messages with my 5-year-old cell phone. (Where's my manners?) Thank you for trying to help. It did work on another single redacted message. It sadly will not work on double posted messages.
