Posting this here as proof it’s possible. While the top died back there is still viable nodes pushing brebas. It’s survived -20F with 6-10 inches of cornstalks as a mulch. The damage was done by the early hard freeze in October.
Ok so it’s a sad day. I found the breba has fallen off, however this variety has started showing main crop figs forming on the lowest nodes even though the new growth is only 6 or so inches tall. Here’s a YouTube short of it for anyone wanting to watch. Hopefully this tree produces a ripe fig for me this year.
