Your favorite Berry nursery ?

Willis Orchard Co. usually has some pretty good prices on berries. Isson's is good, too, but it depends on what plants you are looking for really. Is there anything specific beyond raspberries? Or just berries in general?

Raspberries are a favorite of mine. I'd love to try just one more variety of a thornless blackberry as well, since all I've ever grown was triple crown. I have a few varieties of raspberry, fall gold, and royalty I believe it's called.

My favorite has always been Indiana Berry & Plant company , but their prices have gone up a bit, which I know, hasn't everything ? I just wondered if there were other good companies out there.
Raspberries, etc.
Hey...I'm from Indiana and I had not heard of that one. lol

Good topic. Nurseries around me sometimes have staff that aren't really "into it". When I find a staff member who's as nerdy as I am about something and wants to talk about it... I know I'm in the right place. Sometimes it's me asking them about say, berries and they can talk my ear off...

I recall one time last year I was at a Sheridan Nurseries location in the Toronto area. I was looking at a small fig tree and a staff member asked me if I'd ever grown a fig tree.... I was there for a while!

We have 8 different thornless blackberries. Apache does really well. Vigorous, semi erect to erect canes very productive and good flavor, a bit better than triple crown in our opinion. Joan J is a nice thornless red raspberry and it’s a primocane variety.
Anne yellows are great raspberries too.

Davis @ Humble Abode Nursery has always been friendly and good to deal with, for me. I purchased a grafted Yates Persimmon from him last spring and it arrived damaged. He said it would still continue to grow and be fine, but he sent 2 seedling rootstocks to me, at no charge, to make sure I could graft some of its viable Yates scions onto them, to make sure I didn't lose the variety. He has fruit and berry plants. Good guy. Check them out.

I've also had really good results from Nourse. I have a jostaberry, pink champagne currant, and several blackberry and raspberry varieties original from them. I also had some strawberries from them until I killed them (the strawberry tower got knocked over while we were out of town and didn't notice until everything had gotten desiccated). They also overpacked my order by at least 1 plant of each type, I think the strawberry root bundle had at least 30 when buying a pack of 25.

If you are looking for a thornless blackberry I would encourage everyone to try the new one from University of Arkansas, 'Ponca.' Their breeding program has produced many of the winners already mentioned. Ponca is a gamechanger. The flavor is super duper sweet. It is the sweetest blackberry ever introduced. I run a farmers market and my main berry farm grows this one. I plan to put some in the ground myself. They are excellent. The canes are upright and erect.

We have Ponca. They are definitely good.

Looking to see if I can get it here. Thanks for the tip!
