Winter Watering

Last winter I only had one fig tree and it was a 2 year old Celeste. I kept it on the covered porch up against the house all winter and never watered it. Celeste is very cold hardy and our winters don't usually get very cold but this year I have 20 varieties and I don't know if I should give them any water. Do you water your potted fig trees in the winter and if so how much?

There are so many variables involved regarding winter storage and the need to water your dormant trees.

Assuming you will be storing your trees in your porch or in a garage, I would expect that you will need to add water several times during dormancy. In NJ, I usually add water twice during the winter months. Your winters may be shorter and warmer than mine, so your watering schedule will differ. Keep the soil moist but don’t overwater. Without leaves, your trees need very little water.
