What's your must have Black Madeira type?

Im considering adding a Black Madeira type variety to the orchard. For a few different reasons Ive held off obtaining BM varieties. I currently have a mature 15 gallon potted Black Maderia KK that was bought from another collector end of last season, and I have rooted cuttings of Craven's Craving growing very strongly.
What would be your suggestion for another BM type that is productive and can handle humidity to some degree? Figo Preto? Black Tuson?

I've got a new one... Straight from Madeira Island... Courtesy of @Moonlight . I've been itching to post pics... I'm trying to decide on the right time.... It's the most off the hook BM I'm ever known. My tree is loaded and early.

To be clear. This one as far as I know is not distributed. It is "BM Moonlight" and so far...... wow! Light years ahead of my BMKK that's much older. I've had KK for many years and BM Moonlight produced more figs then all other years combined with KK

I look forward to posting pics

How is it with FMV in your experience?

Me too. Dan Foster favors Black Tuscan. I’ve seen lots of chatter that Figo Preto is more vigorous and has less splitting issues. I think it’s probably one of those that are in the top 3-4 on my list (MIB, CC, FP, BTUSC) that just needs to be tested. And it may be the difference is cutting to cutting tree to tree given all the opinions
And experiences out there.

All BM types are precocious. I have BM UCD, BMKK, Violeta, Black Tuscan, Figo Preto.

Cravens grows quicker than most BMs but it doesn't necessarily mean you get more fruits per tree. I like Preto as it is dwarf relative to others but fruit the same amount, so it is more efficient use of space. :D I don't remember it splits but they all split with inconsistent watering.

An early BM!! BM Moonlight - where do I sign up?? 🤩

Let’s just agree to call it madiera moonlight, I’m a sucker for a good alliteration

I am currently reading through the bylaws to see if fig tax can be imposed on the Admin. :ROFLMAO:

Figo Preto has been growing really well for me this season. It got off to a late start after a large top and root prune over Winter, but is now pushing healthy growth and figs. It was a bit finicky splitting last season, but user error probably contributed to it.

Ok…. First here is my BMKK. I’ve had this for maybe 7-8 years and I don’t think I’ve ever ripened more than a handful of figs. This is probably the most it’s ever set for me. If they weren’t so good I’d have tossed it long ago.

Now this is BM Moonlight. I just got the tree this year. I’m guessing you can tell why I’m so excited.

Pretty crazy! Can’t wait to share some ripe fig pics! 😃

Joe, you meant the BMKK never set a lot of fruits or it set fruits but not ripen them? (because you said ripened only a few in the last few years)
