Put them in that cage and throw some plastic over it.Here we go.....right when I have a ton of Smith ripening...and several others.
Sometimes I feel this hobby is too frustrating.

Will you move them to cover or...come what may?It always comes at the worst time.
I will have beautiful weather this weekend and throughout the week with nothing ripening. Next weekend the thunderstorms and rain move back in when I am expecting ripening to start.
They’re inground trees so they’re on their own. The Etna doesn’t split, but in heavy rain the skin can tear a bit and Byadi can get a bit watered down. The other ingrounds and potted trees are farther off from ripening and they will also be left alone when the time comes. Will you move them to cover or...come what may?
I am going to try to get a few trees under some cover today.
Yeah, like I always say....It's always something! lolSorry to hear that, I hope the loss would be minimal to all of you who deal with rain, mother nature does what it does and without rain food in general would be hard to find .. look at the bright side.
And if it’s just a hobby for you then count your blessings on the ones you’re able to harvest and enjoy. We who beg for rain and never get it and have to deal with hell temps we are in the same boat as we lose figs drying on the tree before they mature. We have to count for some % of losses no matter what, if it’s not rain or heat then its birds, insects, and other animals
Like I said if its a hobby and not source of income then yes reducing the number of trees would be wise IMHO for easier control and management. Honest to goodness, I am still puzzled by how you fine people with 100 + trees can manage that especially when they are in pots, I tip my hat to all of you especially that I assume you have full time jobs. God bless you all!Yeah, like I always say....It's always something! lol
We are getting all 3...heat, rain, & stupid critters.
Sometimes it just makes you feel defeated, a losing battle...you have to keep spending money on items to help you get a few figs or fruit.
I'm not spending all this money and time to feed these .... creatures.
May be time to reduce the trees to a few I like and can protect way easier. Gah!
lol...it is quite an undertaking to care for so many.Like I said if its a hobby and not source of income then yes reducing the number of trees would be wise IMHO for easier control and management. I suggested this too. Even a tarp for the rain would keep them dry but you’d need to remove for sunlight.can you toss some clear poly over the new enclosure?
I'll have to go get some, I thought I might have a roll but I must have used it up.can you toss some clear poly over the new enclosure?
Bummer, dude! I really do feel for you. We are getting just about the same up here. With this cool down, it feels nice and all, but it noticeably slowed down the ripening process. Here we go.....right when I have a ton of Smith ripening...and several others.
