Here with a quick update on the Angelito single-node challenge. In case you are not familiar with it, a few friends, and now me as well, are going to try to root as many single nodes of Angelito as we can, and then give them all out through random wheel giveaways. This Angelito tree has been in my house under lights since March 2024 and has given me over 300 amazing figs. Just had one today. I am very lucky to have such great friends willing to help me and to be able to give away so many from this incredible variety. I hope at least 50.
A couple weeks ago I sent three of my friends, Ben Eratabe Gardens @goodnessatlanta , Danny @MyFigStix and Jeremy @JaysfigsTx, some very gnarled up tight node spaced cuttings to see what they can do with them. And boy oh boy they have come up with some super cool and creative ideas based on the success Ben has already had for years rooting single node cuttings. Now I want in. I want to propagate this amazing variety for some family and friends, and I'd love to send some down to Buck Dove's South Texas Fig and Plant Swap on March 14th for him to give away at the event.
In addition to the photos I uploaded here, If you want to see more updates and the video where I share more detail about my soil mix and rooting technique, come check out the embedded video
