Those Pesky Varmints

I have my 4 container trees I put out on the patio to start waking up. As I walked to the shed to get my Jacks and Alaskan fish fertilizer I saw a dug up ground around the October Glory tree where I just planted flower bulbs last Saturday. All the bulbs were gone but one. They left it there lying on the grass chewed up seems on purpose to taunt me. As if to say “we’ll be back.

I decided not to put bulbs inground in springtime. I’m going to buy already grown tulips and amaryllis plants and put them in the ground instead.

Maybe I’ll take a ride to some garden stores and nurseries to see if the flowers are ready for sale yet.

Since the bulb has started sprouting I took a chance to put it back into the ground to see if it would continue to grow.

I wish the squirrels would help dig up a patch of blue bell bulbs right up against the house. I’ve dug out dozens and dozens and dozens over the last few years and they’ve returned again this year.

I always lay down a weighted mesh over my bulbs.....

These are the replacements tulips I purchased from Lowe's today

The color of the small pots are the color of the tulips. The bigger pot are a red and yellow ruffle tulips.

I mentioned to my husband about your mesh method and he went and put shade cloth over my plants.
