Think it’s going to be a bad winter this year

Tomorrow’s low is predicted for 31°. That’s the 3rd week in a row of freeze temperatures. Also today I saw a Wooly caterpillar, it was all black instead of the usual orange/black. All black means bad winter. Has anyone tried the persimmon seed test? You know to see if the seed shows a knife or spoon inside?

I went to Edible Landscaping a couple weeks ago. They said all the persimmon seed tests showed a snowy winter.

I’m not sure on that wooly bugger. I’ve seen them 3 different ways this year when I’ve been walking.

I’ve seen all brown and all black wooly caterpillars this week, I don’t know what to think.

I have a feeling in my bones it’s gonna be a cold one so reserved my figs in pots for planting in ground in the spring. Grow lights are at the ready for bringing everything inside should we hit 15 or below here. Tropicals are likely on their way in sooner. 40 degree nights are not good for citrus trees health although one is a Meyer lemon. Hopefully apples, blueberries, and blackberries will be just fine. Going to attempt to winterize my peppers as well and see how it does.
