Sweet & Sour Cherry 2024

@"Figology"#21 . Wow what a beautiful looking fig. Any chance of getting a picture of the mother tree? I am assuming sweet and sour cherry is the official name of this beauty? Definitely going to have to sell everything, and buy some land somewhere. My poor backyard Orchard is limited to about 300 in pot trees. Not really enough room to have more than one breeding project.

@figless. Thanks. The mother tree is in someone’s yard, growing at the base of a palm tree. I luckily saw them outside one day and got permission for cuttings, didn’t get a chance to take a picture of the tree and it wasn’t anything extraordinary.

@"Figless"#18 all but two of my trees are in pots. I started off with about 300 and I’m down to 100. 70 trees are 15gal and the rest are 5gal.

Once upon a time I had 500 rooted cuttings going for sport.

@"Figology"#21 wow 300 trees right near the star 500 cuttings. Please share more of your backstory with us. Most people are not born with the latent talent to start 500 cuttings. Even people in the indoor Hemp industry rarely take on that many cuts at one time. Your story is certainly a most interesting one.

@"Figless"#18 i was actively fig hunting and had access to inexpensive high quality soil. I purchased 1000 tall tree pots and took up a new hobby. Access to free cuttings was my main drive. I had a green house and temperature controlled totes for figpops plus a nice setup for indoor growing with capacity for about 200.

@"Figology"#21 quite a backstory thank you for sharing. My family still has a 2,000 ft Greenhouse located up in Humboldt. We have a lot of latent access to soil pots large 2000 square foot pad Greenhouse and indoor facilities. Maybe my son Will take up fruit tree propagation. I certainly hope he does we have a hundred acres but not a lot of it is easily usable.

This fig was excellent today. It was super sweet with a little bit of tang. Probably the best fig of the day out of IB, DSJG, RLBV, FiaTeo, VdB, and Thermalito.

Wow!  It beat out some good ones!  Seems like a winner.  Is this one caprified?  Not sure it looks like it is, but I'm definitely not an expert telling if they are or not.

@"Figology"#21 this fake looks so scrumptiously delicious, and photogenically desirable that I can't believe I haven't begged you for a winter cutting yet. I read the whole thread twice, and couldn't find any evidence of snotty little figless Tears anywhere? What's up with that? I would love to try propagating a cutting this winter. Has there been more than one sour cherry thread on the subject?
