Some of My Favorites so Far

@"Figology"#21 that's the most amazing group of Fig p*** photos I've ever seen. Are they all from this year? Your collection is so impressive.

It’s hard to let them go but a lot didn’t perform this year due to over crowding in my small space. In my fig maturity, I finally realized that having 100+ varieties is not very easy to maintain and after trialing I’d only be keeping them to look cool. I want to be down to around 20. I’d like to keep most of my best finds for sentimental value, but we’ll see.

The 2023 season produced the best fruit for me. These are just pictures of my best varieties from the past few years.

@"Figology"#21 Please Anthony keep your discoveries. No one will look after them better than you will. Plus you will be a natural Repository for these varieties. Fig Enthusiast the world over will know where to go looking for your varieties. My friend purchased a fig hand calculator a few years back. They're impossible to find now, they just never caught on commercially. But he calculates it's as easy to look after 30 fig trees, as to look after 20. In fact this calculation is roughly the same for 20 as it is for 35 fig trees. It's logical when I think of it, but don't get mad at me I just follow the science.

One thing to document,  I traced back the county land the Old Orchard was found on. It used to belong to an archeologist/surveyor for Los Angeles in the early 1950’s. The adjacent house in the area is from the 1920’s. I thought that was a good indicator that they were probably his collection of trees from everywhere he had been.

@"Figology"#21 .Thats an amazing backstory.Do you mind if i ask a few questions? The Back stories are what disappears first, and then they cannot easily be recovered. BTW we've never met in person would it be okay if I address you as Anthony? So many of my posts are addressed to you.

I used a 1940’s phone book available online through the library and searched the address. I then used Google Books to find documents with the name.

those photos are awesome!  I don't see your location and growing zone, could you add those to your profile so we have an idea of where you are growing?  This is my first post, so sorry if it is there and I'm just not seeing it.
