Soil Revolution—Interesting Video

Someone shared this link with me and I thought it was a really cool video. Not sure if it’s everyone’s cup of tea but thought I would share it with you guys for any who might like it.

I think it helps give a real world perspective for why people are “reinventing the past” with how they grow. Anyhow, I hope you enjoy it. 🙂

Looks like the video was taken down by the owner. You have to go watch it on YouTube. Is it perhaps a mineral soil video?

Yeah, apparently it’s only available on YouTube and you can’t share it in other sites. But if you click the “Watch on YouTube” it takes you to it.

It isn’t a mineral soil video, but a documentary of sorts.

thanks for sharing. my partner has been obsessed with getting a bobcat with an attachment to dig holes to plant fruit trees in the 10 acre orange grove in central florida we recently bought. i told her that with natural farming i only need a shovel. while she was watching a chinese drama on the big screen, i was watching the india natural farming video on my laptop, and i kept trying to encourage her to watch it. but then in the video they got a huge drone and were using it to spray some crop. i was hoping my partner wouldn't notice but nope, she saw it and got super excited and i tried covering her eyes. it was too late, the damage was done.

on youtube i religiously watch florida natural farming and he borrows heavily from india natural farming. he even has miniature zebu cows. i'm planning to visit him for the 1st time next month to buy some garcinia madruno seeds to sow in the grove.

LOL I used to be in charge of the tank mixtures for a small hemp Farm. It was always my dream to get a drone sprayer the wind from the chopper blades moves the leaves around for a nice full coverage. Of course those days are behind me. But sometimes late at night my dreams are filled with sprayer unit drones clearing acre after acre of spider mites, and black molds.

Wow, you’re in Florida now and a 10-acre orange grove?? That is so cool!

Well, machinery makes the soil compacted, so I am with you on that one. But even I was like a drone could really save some physical work, hahaha.

I was really enthralled with the video, but I like how they pointed out using local materials. It’s not about duplicating everything to a T but about keeping it simple and using local biology. I am so not going to get a cow and mix dung & urine balls. 😂 But I will be curious if you do that for your orange grove in Florida! 😁

Oh no, I checked out his channel and I see some binge watching in my future… 😅

I hope your visit goes well, that sounds fun and like a good friend to have.

figless, coming from dry southern california, my dream was for drones to do the watering for me. got tired of waiting for technology to catch up to my dreams so bought some land in central florida. 50" of rain per year! wow! that's over 4x the amount that we get here in socal!

inflorescence, i'm still in cali for now, with no immediate plans to move to florida. but it will probably grow on me.

oh yeah, i totally forgot about the soil compaction issue with heavy equipment. not sure how i could forget about this issue since florida natural farming (fnf) brings it up so often as an explanation as to why some trees don't thrive in a particular spot on his land.

fnf never mixed dung and urine balls but he definitely regularly scooped up hay mixed with urine and dung to put in a wheelbarrow that he'd dump on any trees that he really wanted to give a good boost to. he inspired me quite a bit. last year when i hiked the nearest trails and saw piles of horse manure, i'd scoop them into a bag that i'd carry back and put into a bin that i added some worms to. my plan was to mix the decomposed dung with clay and seeds (entirely native seeds, of course, of course) to make seed balls to toss around.

not sure if you saw my thread about fig wasps in germany, but i talked about the power of seeds in poop.
