Siblawi? More like Sib-wow-ee!

I don’t think that even made sense…

This thing had been hanging for days and it wasn’t getting any softer. I couldn’t take it anymore so I picked it. It still seems like it could use another day but wow! I have never tasted a fig like this before. I sliced it into a few pieces so my wife and son could try as well. We looked at each other and said the same thing, I swear it tastes of banana popsicle. Quite sweet too!

The down side is this is a 3rd year tree and I’m only getting a handful. It was good enough that I plan to keep it and give it the 5 star treatment next season

@"TorontoJoe"#1 @"GoodFriendMike"#9  @"Figology"#21 Okay Siblawi? More like Sib-wow-ee!  I am very curious about this good sized 41gram Fig. Especially since it tastes like a banana popsicle. Very few things do in this world. Is there an interesting backstory on this variety that you guys might want to share with us? I went back to 2016 when @"TorontoJoe"#1 started wishing for a cutting, but I couldn't get an origin story. Is it another California find??

Wills used to say Siblawi was the sweetest out of his 400ish varieties. Not sure of an origin story though.
Siblawi is a vigorous, productive tree. It earned one of my coveted 20 in-ground spots. Beautiful fig. Here’s mine:

Well - looks like there's another dark fig with amber interior for me to collect.

I can't wait untill I can cull some varieties to make room for other ones!
