See my dilemma

This is what I'm talking about when I say I don't have a lot of space in ground for figs.
At least until I clear some land.
Also, my land is sloped, there is very little level ground here.
Only where the house sits, and the other side of the property...up a small mountain.
Some pics show a crude topography of my property.
It's 10.33 acres all together.
An overhead pic showing the lack of space.
And how I am located at the end of the Appalachian mountain range, at least the end in Georgia...it continues into Alabama a ways after me.

No shared driveway, the road actually turns to gravel for the last 100 yrds and ends in my driveway.
So I'm the dead end.

As for the pond, it had some Bass, Brim, Crappie, Catfish, frogs, turtles, snakes & a Beaver. lol

What a lovely property Kevin. You must enjoy living there very much even though you don't have a lot of level ground it does seem like all your land is very usable. If nothing else you could try terracing some parts of it . Your pond seems to have a large community of aquatic Life. I sure do love a catfish. It's my favorite fish

It just gets old walking on sloped ground all the time.
And...the older I get, the more I don't like it.
Mowing is another thing. lol
Clearing land is way more expensive than I like...too much to do by yourself.

Possibly looking at selling after the last kid finishes high school....we shall see.

Kevin I hope you never do get around to selling that land.. especially with access to a good sized Lake like you have. Maybe y'all need a bobcat, and a backhoe to change some of the terrain into something that pleases you more. Like submarine Pete accomplished in his back 40
I keep thinking I want to sell this property in Bezerkely CA, and try to find some land. in Texas or Georgia. BTW I'm totally jealous of your beautiful 10 acres Kevin.

Maybe it's just age that changes our perspective. If you felt like you did the day you bought it. You would fall in love with that land all over again.

@"ktrain"#2  there’s a YouTube channel called BamaBass.  They’re in Alabama.  They built a beautiful 5 acre pond on their property.  Check it out.  You’ll really enjoy it.

The family place in Sicily (Rocca) is heavily sloped. The soil drains fairly well but we have irrigation lines from the cistern out to the trees for when it gets too hot and dry. Doesn't seem to be an issue for the trees.

Terracing might be a better option for you... but regardless, you're going to need an excavator and something to grade.....

Let me see if I can find some pics of the place.

Yep yep...all the trees in the front of the house leading down to the pond will be the first to go.
Some figs and banana trees will be planted there.
And maybe a couple paw paw. :)

Love to see those pics.

@"Figology"#21

A little bragging never hurt...lol
The 85" TV I just put up. LOL

Actually...I know I have mentioned at times that I don't have enough space in ground for a bunch of fig trees + all the other stuff I want in ground.
So I just thought it would be kind of neat to show what I'm dealing with....wasn't really bragging. lol
I like my little slice of Georgia, but.....I would like it to be more flat.

So many pictures it's tough to find the right ones.... At Rocca the house it at the top of the hill and the property maybe 8 hectares (20 acres?)

Now, this is old world and it's been cultivated longer than there are records.... So no wild forest nearby. Around here mostly olives... then figs, citrus and Nespole ( forget whet they're called in English. Maybe medlar?) And lots of fichi di india (Local prickly pear, we always have a leather glove in the car so we can pick when we see a good bunch)

Where was I.... Oh yeah....

I'm sure I have better pics but I'm up closing my father in laws cabin and the internet is cruddy here.

@"SubmarinePete"#105    That is true, but dang I have some really big trees and I'm not so confident I can make the go the way I want.
Some could potentially hit the house or other things due to leaning.

But I could start by working around those. lol

@"Figology"#21    Some beers are obviously a must have! :D

@"TorontoJoe"#1    Now those pics are killer, that landscape is worth some bragging rights!
I think I could handle that much better than what I have here.
I just can't convey how steep the property is on the other side of the pond, other than a video showing it. lol
My legs cramp up by the time I hit the top. :D
