Scramble time...

How cold are you getting? We are only going down to about 28 tonight, which is actually helpfull to drop a few of those last few leaves over here.

Did you prioritize the ones with lots of green wood? Or just leave until last the ones that tick you off because they don't produce well? :)

I hear you. Just finished day 3 of moving into my garage, and still have 19 8-gallons and 56 3-gallons to go. Trying to finish tomorrow before predicted lows drop to 23F. Got 101 pots in so far.

Most of mine are in bigger pots, so I just hugged them all together outside and packed hay around them. It normally works for me. The little ones are in the cold greenhouse, but I did leave a few out this year , so we'll see.

Kevin, I’ve been doing the same thing for the last two days. I was out till 8:30 last night and worked to get most of my younger ones in the garage. Southern Ohio got a killer last night. I had several with leaves but 20* took them off. I also have many to cull. May just pile them in an area of the garage to decide the Final Cut later. I have to do my moving on a rollator because I can’t walk anymore and 90 trees need to be . Supposed to be 17* Sunday night so whatever is left out will have to make it if I can’t put them in the garage. Having fun though, even when it’s work. Gives an old guy something to do. Trying to save some to plant in ground in spring.

Sounds like we're in the same boat Bob, I procrastinated way too long and didn't have my green house ready, not my wife needed help with stuff over the TG break and I still didn't get to it.
I will be working on it every weekend from here on out until it's finished cold weather or not.
But then I have to take all these trees from the garage up a hill and around the side of the house.
Not looking forward to that.
Sounds like our temps aren't far off from each other, we're looking at 20 tomorrow night, 26 tonight.
It is a labor of love Bob. :)

I got all mine in the garage. There’s 31 left to stack to clear a walkway, but everything is protected for tonight. I can finish stacking tomorrow.

That looks great. For me and my husband it sure was nice to only shuffle 11 pots to the shed and didn’t have to stack any, they are nicely huddled together. I did buy just 2 cuttings from OTBP last night. Honey varieties.

This is my week. The trees finally lost their leaves and it hit 20* last night. I only have about 15 to bring in, but I’ve got to winterize my in-grounds, which is still a job. The ground seems to get further away and gravity seems to get stronger as I age. Lol. It’ll give me a good opportunity to document the method that I use for the winterization page. I actually got three BA-1 today that weren’t bad for figs December.

Noticing all the empty pots there. Do you pull them from the pots for storage?
Yes, those 8-gallon square pots held 3-gallon round pots. The trees were 10-12 ft tall and blew off too easily. Putting them in the square pot with a few bricks in the bottom helped a lot with the tipping and irrigation (we run the lines along the top of the pots and need a consistent height).

My goal is to use all 8-gallon square pots. I was gradually up potting when I hurt my foot and had to stop.

I should pull the pots inside, but want to make sure there’s room for the figs first.

Hope your foot feels better soon!
