Saint Anthony

I believe this one is persistent, although I did not get any profichi this year.  I have my first mommoni figs that are almost ripe.  Looking forward to see if it has much pollen, but mainly if it is edible or not...and if it tastes good or not.

Nice add! I have this one labeled as "St. Anthony PC" just to keep it from being confused with St. Anthony the female fig. I did get a couple of ripe profichi off of mine. But the tree is still young. So can not compare it to the older trees. Do you happen to remember FigNut's name? I would like people to know and pass on the name of the breeder that created the fig.

Yeah, the caprifig was created by Mary Ann.  I can't remember her last name...I can try to look it up if you need me to.  That is funny that you call it St. Anthony PC...that is exactly what she calls it.  Do you remember the lineage?

@"RandyK"#37 Not off hand. I should have wrote it down. But should not be a problem for me to find it. :)

Man, you are good!  I would have had to dig for it, if you needed me to look it up.

Well, I got I think 3 mammoni figs to ripen this year (and a couple got nicked by the wildlife 😡). I finally took pictures of the last one. Again, surprisingly good. I’m very much hoping to get profichi figs next year to see if it gets good pollen and a fair amount of it. If so, worth keeping and would have the bonus of a pretty good tasting “main crop” fig. If it doesn’t end up being a good pollen producer, not sure I will keep it.

Of all the caprifigs I’m growing St. Anthony produced the most profichi and they had good amounts of pollen.  It’s a vigorous grower and is definitely a keeper for pollen production.  Next year I’m going to try storing pollen in the fridge so I can pollinate throughout the year.

Mine doesn’t seem to have mamme on it…wouldn’t they be visible now? Maybe as mine get older, but right now, I don’t see any.

Is yours producing mamme?
