Roots 😲

What is your secret to rooting?
Oh I have killed some cuttings in the past... 😔 I just do a variation of the fig pop method. Start them in a container, anything I have available, then wrap them tight with a clear plastic. This helps to monitor moisture, so you know when to take off the plastic and give them a bit of water.. I like to bottom water them, then I just lightly moisten the from the top. I am using peat as a substrate and if you don't keep it moist it becomes hydrophobic, making it difficult to water properly. Another advantage of this modified version is I can check for roots often without worrying about damaging the roots.

Try some coco coir. It drains easy and not as bad to get hydrophobic. Or just mix both with maybe some perlite.

Yeah, I was out of coir and the local shops that carry it are not from vetted sources. In other words, I worry about the salt content of some of the coir products. But, yes, a mix of coir and peat is a best case scenario.
