Rooting Cuttings

For the first time I have tried to root summer cuttings. I am rooting them in hybrid fig pops in 4x8 containers covered in bags.

During the winter, I experience 95+ percent success but so far for summer cuttings just looking at what has leafed out…about 30%.

So today I decided to investigate and try and figure out what I am doing wrong. I picked up a non leafed out cutting out of the bin and took the bag off. Out of the corner, I noticed a white root. I then noticed roots coming out the bottom of the pot. Never had that happen before. I looked at a few others and they had roots coming out the bottom too.

So I’m kinda wondering what now? Just keep on letting them go and hope they break bud I guess eh? Might have to take a couple out of the container and up pot just to check them out further.

@LTCG I would say congratulations are in order. I've never done well with the bag method, and personally I'm not likely to use it again. I've never done better than 30% with it. Sounds like you're going to do much better than that. I will say that a little spray of wettable sulfur can sometimes kickstart reluctant cuttings. Though from what you're saying you're doing just fine.
