Real beautiful Italian 258

I had a tree in 2020.  Actually bought it from Big Bill but I culled it in 2022 because it wouldn’t ever ripen before the end of the season.  It would be at the end of November and still wasn’t anywhere near ripening.  We never had a greenhouse or grow room to start  it early so I culled it.  I’m very happy you’re getting not just a few but DOZENS.  Kudos my friend, kudos.  Eat a few for me.

Great video Teresa. Thank you so much for sharing it with us. All those fig trees looked wonderful to me. Of course Italian 258 resides in the Land of the Lost for both me, and my gardening partner. We managed to lose at least four cuttings of it. My i-258 died in the Fig Bud Mite infestation of last spring. My gardening partner just delayed up potting for too long this year, and lost his as well. LOL we're both newbies.
 
@Figless, I did the same thing when I first started trying to root cuttings.  Everyone said it was really easy to root fig cuttings so I got some good cuttings.  Let's just say, it was not pretty.  I wish you the best of luck.

@Figless, I haven't forgotten the I-258 cuttings that are coming your way. I probably won't prune until January, but you'll get them when I cut them!
 
When I first started rooting cutting, I killed this variety so many times. I gave up for many yrs now I hope to try again some day.
 
@LaFigGwr18 - I don't think I killed more of any particular cutting that I-258. I tried for ages. I don't know why since some seem to have rooted it with ease. I got one to live (barely) then it grew. Now all I do is make layers. The price as come down over time. If I had to acquire one now, I'd buy a small tree from a known grower. It's more expensive than a cutting but cheaper since you'll not be as likely to kill it. I ended up spending way more on cuttings than I would have had I just bought a plant.

And make no mistake.... IMO this is an absolute must have fig.

Would you know in what area Lou is located? Just beautiful trees
