2 days hard work, still a lot to do to replace current fallen beds.
Had to go to 2 far away HD, picked 20 pieces lumber from each store(20x2=40). Near by HD didn’t have enough storage. Far-away ones didn’t have enough non split lumbers! Then HD did not like cut for us, too much work! I never think about it before, YouTube videos always tell they cut for us!
Ran to urgent care in between, somehow an extra 2x4X8 fell on my husband’s head, thanks lord, he is okay even didn’t need stitches just washed with sterol water and picked up 2 tubes Bactricin ointment from CVS . Always something happening than planed! One day work stretched to 2.

We thought about use the Concrete Planter Wall Block as well, but after did some calculation my husband decided to use screws to fit the budget. We built 5 30 in tall beds by using 40 piececs 2x10x10 boards and 7.5 pieces 2x4x10 to support. If we use the blocks need 120 of them. Plus the metals to secure the bricks, that will be significantly increase the cost. But if just one lower bed, I definitely would use the blocks, save time and effort, also you can reuse the blocks in the future.

I understand. I only had to buy 12 of the blocks, 2 for each corner and 2 for each side of the center or you can say 6 along each side. Also 6 rebarbs to hold the blocks together.

They look great. What are you planning to grow in them?
Thank you! Too many! A little bit or lot bit everything🤣: onion, garlic chives, garlic, fava bean, lettuce, kale, mustard, asparagus lettuce, purple asparagus, celery, chayote, luffa, bitter melon,Cyclanthera pedata,ZUCCHINO RAMPICANTE, pole beans, yard long beans, snow pea, tomatoes, eggplants, sweet and hot peppers, purple sweet potatoes and maybe more…always more things I want than space and sun.
Need set up cattle panels after fill up the beds.

Anybody knows can I transplant 🧄? I just checked my over wintered garlic (planted hardneck garlic last October and November )they look great, but I need get rid of the broken bed, they maybe not happy to transplant to new home.

I like those, Good work!

I need to replace 4 also, I used landscape lumber to build them.
After years and years they are just about beat.
This will be their last year then time to rebuild.

I like how high you built those.

Nice selections - you’ll have a nice variety of delicious homegrown veggies come Summer.

I looked into landscape lumber too, supposed last longer, but I need too many layers to build tall bed. I even thought about use 12in boards.
After been a nurse for too many years I need save my back as much as I can. Sucks to getting old😂

I hear ya, backs are the first thing to stop you from doing these activities. lol

Here are the beds I built years ago, they are a shadow of this now.

Yea I used a heat gun and some beer bottles.
I have to say...it was cool to use for the first year or two, but after that the medium starts to settle in and pull the plants downwards.
But it was cool to see all the strawberries hanging all over it. :)
My strawberry hanging over my blueberry bed, always something else get them before me. Thinking of getting these two items from Costco for strawberry.

Wow! @Greatlakemay @ktrain My galvanized beds are pretty low maintenance but those look so much nicer.

My wife wont let me pour steel reinforced concrete beds..... Usually I like smooth, modern lines but I think a stamped concrete bed would be cool.... Even field stone and morter would be nice... and hold a lot of heat.

Nice job guys!! I gave up on the raised beds and just went back to regular garden beds after my raised beds rotted away--last year I had a terrible vole problem though--they devastated my potatoes.

transplant them, but just use some of the same dirt--maybe they might go on strike and not grow for a season--just leave them. They all grow bigger after a few years.
