I’ve heard that striped varieties (eg, Rimada, Panache, etc) can easily revert to non-striped versions. I’ve also noticed how the wood from which the striped fig grows is often striped too.
I need to prune my Rigato de Salento (PB), and want to make sure the tree doesn’t revert to a non-striped fig. They’re just so pretty!

I can see the striped wood where it hasn’t lignified,

But not as easily where it has lignified.

This lower portion of the trunk is what I’m keeping as this tree is getting its first heading cut. This wood produced striped breba earlier this season (see photo), but doesn’t look that way now.

What are the chances that this tree will revert? Should I keep any cuttings with striped wood to make sure I have a striped version?
Thanks!
