Pruning - 2024

I moved my entire potted fig tree collection (3) from the backyard to the driveway in preparation of pruning and storing away for the winter.

Adriatic JH - 2 yr old in a 20 gallon pot. No pruning to be done this year - let it ride.

Molise Red - 2 yr old in a 15 gallon pot. Only going to prune where the green survey flagging is in an effort to grow secondary branching and fill in that quadrant.

Figo Preto - 3 yr old in a 12.5 gallon pot. Reshaping this tree to a single trunk tree as can be seen where the green survey flagging is. Will have to root prune and tilt it when repotting to achieve a semi-straight trunk.

Either Molise Red or Figo Preto will be planted inground come Spring.

Those are all really nice lookin trees, I too am a fan of single trunk trees.
All though, the HC I put in ground I am sort of letting it do what ever. :)

Does your Figo Preto produce enough to warrant a spot in ground?

Both Figo Preto and Molise Red produced well this year in pots - the issue on both was splitting. I’m hoping planting either inground will at least reduce the amount of splitting in future years. I already have a spot dug out and pot inserted for one of them in an area

All of my inground trees started as single trunk and now 4 of them have turned into a bush form due to winter damage. I’m in no hurry to reshape them, just letting them do their thing as you mention.

What!?!? Those are about the most perfectly pruned trees I've ever seen! so nice! Well done!

With trees like that, and the Eagles winning by 17 .... a good day? :)

Thanks. Good day for sure - too bad the Flyers lost a tough one last night, although Michkov scored a non power play goal. Thankfully I don’t like basketball - the Sixers are atrocious!

It looks like I’ll be wrapping a few of the ingrounds this weekend in preparation of early December cold.
