Problem with deer?

I once asked my step grandfather about keeping critters, birds and deer out of the garden. He said, “Make a bigger garden.”

He was another one, grew up on a 40 plus acre working farm. His personal garden was a work of beauty, as a kid I remember watching my stepfather and his dad both running tillers to prep the garden. It was his pride and joy, the raspberries OMG the raspberries!! Fruit tree’s the corn the horseradish…turnips galore he had it all. A master gardener, but it’s all gone.

I had an issue with deer, but I had a 5 foot rail fence put up for the pups, ironically that was enough to deter the deer, even though they can easily jump the fence they don’t. I suppose they just use to destroy my garden en route to where ever they were going lol

We have a lot of deer here but they tend to stay in our back pasture. I am thankful for my livestock dog, she does a great job of keeping the critters away from the garden and the figs. Unfortunately she does not keep the chickens away lol

Think she knows the chickens live there so part of the family to protect.

The deer are constantly coming to the pond to drink.
So I have to fence my fruit trees...they used to eat the ends of my cherry tree branches.
Soap used to work, until small critters started eating the soap.
Back to fences.

I do have one lardass of a ground hog that every so often climbs my fence for the garden and fallen fruit. My wife use to tell me about it and I kept telling her ground hogs don’t climb fences, well….yes they do lol

Big news for you they climb trees too. Had one climb the peach tree like we planted it just for him and help himself. I forgot I had to laugh when you called him a lard buttock, well those lard asses can run really fast.😂🤣
