Pot Risers

I would like to see the homemade versions. I have the Down Under plant dollies for my citrus trees on my concrete patio and they work really well. They are not cost effective for the large amount of fig trees I have. I may have to resort to bricks or concrete pavers again.

I can't find a picture right now. I've made a bunch of my own with pressure treated 2x4 on salvaged swivel casters or office chair wheels.

*If you use casters, try to make sure one of them has a brake. I once had to chase a tree down the driveway and onto the street.

I was thinking...

You could probably use these as "water reservoirs" (as in: self-irrigating pots)!

Take a closed pot, put the pot-riser in, and then drill two drain holes just below
the top of the pot riser, so excess water can flow out. Layer with a fine mesh
(so the roots don't grow into the pot riser), include a small watering pipe into
the pot itself, et voila!

Seems much easier to me than using flexible pipe (but I can be wrong).
