Anyone here have experience or know a thing about pomegranate? I have a two year old tree started from seed, really took off this year but I have no clue how to train it, if it’s even possible.

Should I train it like a fig tree and pinch it at 18-20” of lateral growth? Or does it benefit from growing in a bush form. Any advice would be appreciated thank you :)

They naturally shoot up many stalks like a bush, what I have seen at the arboretum is they train them to be very neat tall bushes or short round bushes.

So like clean up extraneous stalks over time but expect the overall look to be bushy.

In boyce thompson they have a beautiful Grove that has been trained to arch over the walking path so it creates a leaf tunnel with the pomegranites very pretty.

I have a craziness for poms.... and have rooted and grown more than a dozen , and now I have a tray of rooted varieties in the greenhouse from a local friend that are more hardy. I just let them grow and do their thing. All of mine are in large pots though. This is a dwarf variety that to me is just for show, but does give tiny fruits..... But I do have some amazing varieties that I can't wait to see give me fruit.
. I just do videos for the fun of it, they aren't very good.

Thanks everyone. Going to up pot into a 15 gallon and leave it alone for now, will keep multiple trunks and thin out the weak ones this upcoming fall :)
