Oh yeah, it does have an avocado shape  :)

😂 It does look like a Pinocchio fig! 🤥

How did you like Black Zadar?

I like it.  This season the figs were smaller, but it ripened better than last season.

Same! I had a lot of small figs this year. I wonder why that was the case? 🤔
I just assumed it was because I screwed up my growing season. But maybe it was more weather related than I realized? Trying to think of what could have impacted us both… haha.

Just had a late season Black Zadar earlier today. Surprisingly sweet with tender skin for this time of year.

Mine didn't have a long nose though.... :)

I think it may be weather related, too.

Yes! So much stuff was smaller this year. Not just the figs! The spring did get off to a really weird start here. It wormed up then got really cool and stayed that way for a while... Smaller figs, tomatoes.... even onions and garlic.

My tomatoes never even ripened this year. It was so weird. I thought I had plenty of heat though… probably not enough water. There were some weirder cooler periods too.

That's wild given how long your season is. Even with not so warm days. What sort of temps are you into these days?

Right?? It was so strange!

Tonight the low is 42°, high is 62°

You're certain you're in 9a? That's chilly! So strange. We're foretasted to be back up above 20C this week... Like 70F. I'm still above freezing on the long term forecast. Which is actually a pain in some ways.... My trees arent going dormant so I can't put them away.  I guess we can't rely much on the farmers almanac anymore.

I only got my garlic in the ground today. It's just been too warm.... but unheard of this late here.

Crazy reversal of weather. I had to pull out a warmer blanket for bed and we’re starting to have fires in our wood burning stove. Trees aren’t dormant yet, but leaves are yellowing.

Adding to the strangeness, some fruits (like persimmons) here ripened earlier this year, but some are delayed.

Gotta be because it’s an election year or some such nonsense. :dodgy:

@"Inflorescence"#181 I agree with your climate zone it is very strange that you had so much trouble with tomatoes, and smaller sizes with your figs. Truly a triple witching year weather wise.
