I have never heard of Pelligrino referred to as Pelligrini.

Same here. Maybe worth inquiring about with Harvey. I grow Pellegrino ("I" not "E")
Pellegrini is just the plural form of Pellegrino (means pilgrim) It happens all the time with Italian words used here so may just be a confusion with that.... or a completely different fig, but worth asking about its pedigree before you commit

This fig came indirectly from Vinny in the UK and I used the name as it came to me. I don't know its history beyond that.
