Using the corner to adjust the size before posting doesn’t work but when I tap the picture after I posted the picture comes up large.

Here's how you resize the photo.
Click the photo icon.Upload the photo.
You will see the photo appear in your text box as full size.
NOW click/tap on the photo one time, and you will see a box outline appear around the photo.
You can not grab the corner and drag it to resize the image.
Note that you can also choose the alignment/justification of the photo (left, centered, or right). If you continue typing, the text will automatically wrap around the photo.
Then you hit the button to post your comment

Avatar and text is a little too big for my tablet, it’s hard on my eyes and takes up a lot of the screen.

My best guess is that it may be a display setting on your device. I have checked from a couple of mobile devices and my own table, and it presents differently.

I also checked other XenForo communities just now to verify the display.

Well… devices can be changed to enlarge things, but I can’t change settings on my device to make this one site smaller. I have to hold my ipad away to read the screen easier, haha.
