New and improved garden ant bait

Oooo this is really helpful, just recently saw a whole nest of ants in one of my garden beds and they destroyed my lettuce.

Then I noticed more ants on my apple trees. They were farming aphids in the leafs and causing the leafs to curl up, serious issue so I’ll probably try this to get them off :o

The ratio of borate to sugar/peanut butter seems high because most commercial baits has about 5-6% borate in active ingredients, the minimum that is needed to kill some tough to kill ants (from Brazil). Most ants only need half of that.

But given how easy this is to mix. I'll definitely give it a try. I just hope it doesn't kill the ants on the spot. That has been the problem of my previous mix at near 5%. I can see dead bodies pilling up nearby, which means the mix is too strong for the workers to carry it back to the hive.

I also have the sugar bait in separate container from the peanut butter bait because peanut butter bait tends to go rancid more quickly than sugar. Normally, if I feed them small amounts, they can consume quickly. With large amount like a half tub full, a lot would be wasted since ants are picky eaters. :ROFLMAO:

I made the peanut butter recipe and this morning the ball jars are GONE! Poof! 3 of them completely disappeared. Either ants carried the entire ball jars away or another critter with opposable thumbs carried them off. Doh! Damn ants have backup support or something.
