My, what big strawberries I have

I grew up in California. In the mountains but only about 45 minutes from Fresno. One thing about growing up around the San Joaquin valley, when driving around Ca I can identify all kinds of crops. "Those are peach trees, those are almond trees, those are olives, etc." It's just miles and miles of agriculture. Plums, cotton, pistachios, corn, bell peppers, and on and on. What really makes it work is the irrigation from snow run off in the mountains because it doesn't rain in the summer.

Teresa, those are beautiful! And I would agree that California has some awesome fruit... the climate is tops...

I'm putting strawberries in a raised bed for the first time this spring. I overwintered some small rooted runners that were given to me by a local u-pick grower. They're supposed to be everbearing, which is what I was looking for. I don't even know the variety but given he's growing them commercially and nearby, I'm hoping for good results.... I'm not really sure how "everbearing" they really can be.... but I prefer a stretched out harvest if possible.

Now I need a raccoon barrier.... should be easier in the fixed, raised bed. During ripening I'll probably build a hardware cloth box.
