Winter weather warning from 5am-5pm. Same amount as Friday 1-3 inches with a possible 4 inches. Seems winter came early this year. Let’s hope spring comes early too.

I wish we had snow too. Snow is the best for winter protection! There has always been a lot of snow, but climate change changes a lot things. Now, we have very little snow and this year's December looks more like a pre-spring month. We had some snow in the last week of November, but everything melted. Maybe there will be some snow in January and February, but I think it won't be that much.

The biggest problem here the last couple of years is the late spring frosts. I would much rather have a inter full of snow that would end in March like it used to and then have a full-on spring with proper spring temperatures without any frost.

You are 100% correct. We can all handle snow... it's the erratic weather with thaws then cold snaps that really cause a lot of damage and we can't plan for.

2025 was very difficult for me despite heat records. Spring came very late. Normally, I can have tomatoes in the ground in early May. Sometimes end of April. This year, it was too cold even well into June. It was awful. Then it was followed by one of the hottest, driest summers we've ever had. The tomatoes recovered and ended up doing well in the dry hot sun... but many figs even with the heat and sun, didn't get enough warm days to ripen before it got cold.

Crazy weather

@TorontoJoe There is nothing worse than dry winter ith frost. These frost make much more damage. The winter should b proper ith frosts and a lot of snow. That doesn't do much damage, because snow works as a protection. I am always using snow as protection, the problem is that it is now melted and it doesn't look like there will be any snow coming in coming days. I am sure there will be something in January/February, but it won't be much.

I have a similar experience with spring last year. The year before that we had extremely hot February, so the fig trees started to wake up, but then at the beginning of April, frost came and set all the trees back. The weather is getting crazier each year, it seems.

It definitely feels more and more difficult to predict in recent years. I wonder how this affects commercial farms and orchards….
