LSU AgCenter Article: History of the LSU Fig Breeding Program

Is there any documentation (or anecdotes) on how and when all the other assumed LSU fig varieties were found?
When Dr O’Rourkes house was sold.
The owner let LSU students and faculty take cuttings of all the trees growing there.
Neighbors did the same as the Dr had planted trees from the breeding program at his house and in many of the neighbors yards. Many of those are known being grown by LSU at there test sites.

Do you know if those trees at O'Rourkes house were documented? Were they labeled?

Most where not labeled. The only fact that is known. Is that O'Rourke planted them.
And they came from LSU. No breeding records were found that I know of.
I am not expert on LSU figs. I am just someone that came across some info
looking for Caprifig varieties. :)

@GoodFriendMike. I am rooting a couple of DC6 that I got from a generous forum member. Glad to hear it is persistant. Is it edible? Is it a good pollen maker for future hand pollination in Zone 6? Not much information out there about DC6.

It does produce an edible crop but my few are still young as well.
Out of the "Dead Cat" figs. DC 2, 6 and 7 are Capri.
I can not truly answer the rest of your question with out
relying on others photo's. But from those images.
It seems 6 and 7 produce more pollen than 2.
I have not added 7 yet. But when I do. I will add more
about all of them when they produce. Hope you and others
will post more about them as well. :)

OTBP sells DC-2, I believe as a common fig. They are currently out of stock but there was some there a week or two ago. Are you sure #2 is a Capri?
