Dang, my nieces came up from Louisiana and Alabama for a month at my dad’s place. It’s already over. They go back on Thursday, but the memories they made this summer will last them forever. I’m so glad we moved to Texas to be closer to family and have the opportunities to create these memories with them.
That being said, time waits for no man.
The baby fig trees are getting absolutely smoked by the heat in Tx right now. I think today may have been the hottest day so far this year. If it wasn’t it sure as hell felt like it.
1st pic Bourjasotte Gris has at least 3 figlets. Hoping they make it full term lol.
2nd pic couple JHA figs swelling. Ate one the other day. So much different than other ones I’ve had. Still planning on air layering it in half at some point before dormancy.
3rd pic is strawberry verte with 3 and if you look real hard you can find a 4th.
4th is what we call big green fig showing out with 4 as well.
Seems like the magic number for my baby trees is 3-4. Odd, hmmm. Will have to put more thought into that maybe. Probably not.
5-8 is the top half of the i258 air layer. It dropped all its leaves in dramatic fashion lmao. I told that to my daughter and she said “here we go with the fig tree drama”
Held on to like 3. I’ve been a little worried about it until today when I saw a bunch of new buds forming and a tiny leaf growing. So I guess it may pull through and make it after all. Only time will tell now. I am glad I cut it half when I did, otherwise the roots would have surely been killed by this heat in that cup.
Oh! Almost forgot, the Bordissot Negra is currently going a little crazy, shot out 2 branches off of one old bud spot, and one up at the top of the cutting. Prob will up pot next weekend since it wants to get crazy. No pics. Sorry gang.
How have yall been doing. It seems like it’s been a while.
