Leons Montenegro

This is a late Leons Montenegro, I can't remember when the figlets formed but I do remember thinking they'll never have time to ripen.
I did pull this a bit early but, ... the swd have been attacking everything near ripe so I figured what the heck.
It was quite pleasant, most of the flavor was near the eye as to be expected at this ripening point.
It was berry, mildly sweet.
But given this time of year, and all the rain we were getting.
I'll take it!

That’s a good looking fig. How large is it in comparison to other varieties?

This one was only like 40ish grams, last year they were a bit bigger.
It did die down to the soil line this year....so that's why it was later.

@"ktrain"#2 . Leons Montenegro sounds like a scrumptious tasting fig. Looks photogenically delicious too. 42 grams sounds like a very good sized fig. Maybe this winter they won't die back to the ground, and they'll be even bigger. Congratulations once again for ripening a late season Leons Montenegro, right after a hurricane.

Wow! Mouth watered when I saw that picture.

You know what pairs amazing with figs.... a really good capocollo... You and @"ktrain"#2 should give that a try sometime... If you can get your hands on some good stuff...

It was definitely a surprise, this is very close to Dalmatie & Stella, and possible one other if my memory servers me.
I'm hoping the new green house will do the trick to protect my trees this winter, we shall see. :)

Looks nice.

I just watched a video of the variety being eaten with intense mouth noises, I surely hope you ate it like that to maximize the Flavour.
