Ischia Black and Malibu Greek Unk. 2024

Now is that the (vdb) Ischia black or usda?
I have the usda and it's not too bad here...Keeping it around.
The Malibu looks really good, refreshing...but looks can be deceiving I suppose. lol

USDA according to my Label

It was really like eating nothing. Couldn’t really taste much. Since it’s late, it could be lower sun levels and low sugar production.

@"Figology"#21. I have both of these varieties most probably from Venturabanana, from our old house. They were a gift from the CRFG Sepulveda Garden basin Los Angeles.. Also they are long-term residents of my pity corner. In fact Malibu Greek unknown has the high distinction of being my slowest grower in the pity corner. A true sweepstakes winner. Still mark recommended it to me, and that's enough for me. Hopefully next year these girls will put the pedal to the metal and put on some growth, and figs. Actually Malibu Greek unk  just keep trying to grow figs. I'm so worried about it surviving the winter I pick off any figs it tries to grow. I alternate between GH synthetic at a high strength formula. Then nectar of the Gods organic. They are in 5 gallons round plastic .pots. I keep looking for how to add photos but I just can't seem to do it with an edit.

Both you and Mark are near the coast, it might perform a little better there from the pictures I've seen. I got mine from Fig Gazer but it's a graft on a different rootstock. I believe it to be WM#1 or close enough that I don't need to keep both.

That is interesting. My Ischia Black is pretty good here. It is the USDA version. One of my top performers. I think the taste is very good and the tree is productive. I guess it is one of those that is better in some areas than others?

It might be a great fig for some. Since I'm trying to get to a top 20 or less, I consider myself a bit of a snob when it comes to evaluating figs. I've tasted close to 150 different varieties so my palette is well versed.
