Is this normal?

I dropped by a nursery earlier as I was in the area. For the most part I save my own seed but this caught my eye when I noticed that it's a red storage onion. Something I don't have... then I looked below.... I'm trying to wrap my head around what might make this anywhere near a reasonable price for a packet of onion seeds. At this price I expect magic beans!

Has anyone heard of these Redwing onions? Perhaps there's something special I don't know about. They're F1's so I can even save seed from these if I did buy them.

It's cool that they store a long time but I don't feel good about what seems to be a move to make heirloom seeds a thing of the past in favour of us paying for the new hybrids every year.

worst part is they decrease quantity every year 😂
Nothing like shrinkflation😂.

I assume you meant to say can’t save seed🙂.

Has anyone else ever considered taking F1 seed and growing several generations out to stabilize it to an open pollinated variety? All open pollinated plants started as F1s.

you’re looking for any other tomato seeds? I have a bunch of extras haha mostly heirlooms
It’s so nice of you! I am done for seed tomatoes this year, yesterday just finished separating tomato seedlings , total 15variety, among them 14 heirlooms, 101 seedlings😂😂. Some go to neighbors, friends and relatives, but still too many for myself.
The orange hat is super dwarf specific for my mother in law who’s famous of black thumb but love tomatoes. So each year I make some super dwarf one for her, bring in on Mother’s Day, then she only water them, does not need do anything extra but enjoy her own tomatoes. Last year I did golden harvest which is red not golden, this year try some different.
Maybe we can exchange our tomato seeds. I try couple new varieties each year. What variety you recommend if I don’t have I would like to try next year!

I personally loved Super Sweet 100 or Matt’s Wild Cherry, both grew very vigorously and plentiful compared to the others. For regular sized tomato’s I personally like my Pineapple Tomato or San Marzano was also another good one I grew last year :)

I planted Matt’s wild cherry last year , for some reason it turned out small, very thick skin and lots seeds, I decided will not plant them again, still have seeds in original package. I plant pineapple last year, love it , and will do this year again. Never tried supper sweet 100. Heard a lot about it . Was confused with sweet 100 and 1000. Seems 1000 is F1, less crack , didn’t get the seeds yet maybe next year. super Sweet 100 should be easy to get from Walmart. 1000 need order on line. Never tried San Marzano.
Cherry tomatoes I love geranium kiss I grow them more and more each year, so hold, huge cherry peach shaped semi dared, container friendly. Indeterminate I just plant black cherry and lg red cherry.

Actually I made 2 jars of tomato sauce from Matt’s wild cherry last year, rest all wasted took too much time to harvest couze too small. I just had one jar a few days ago to put on polish cabbage roll, OMG, smell so good, like tomato heaven.

Yeah mine was crazy vigorous it produced a handful every day. They were smaller than usual for cherry tomato’s but the abundance it produced made up for it, I threw it in my salads and I gave away the rest to family who made sauces aswell
