I have to agree. When I first started collecting Capri everyone thought I was nuts. Now there may be some truth to that. But now so many people are collecting them to pollinate their figs. It is great to see.I’ve been posting pollination results videos all summer but sadly I don’t have a following like Ross so many don’t even see my channel. Pollination will be the biggest thing in the fig world over the next 2-3 years I believe. It’s super easy to do and only requires growing one extra tree. After seeing some positive results with my shipped pollen test I may offer some up next year as it doesn’t take much to pollinate an entire orchard and like he stated in the most recent video, once you eat a pollinated fig you will be spoiled and the rest will fail in comparison lol
You could but I would only buy it from someone you trust. I hope it doesn’t come to people selling it for high prices because it got popular. I imagine any on this forum you could trust but make sure it’s quite fresh and shipped quick. I sent mine priority with tracking to a member. I didn’t want to risk it because pollen is ready when temps are high and a few extra days may make the difference in it surviving. Look for it around June/July of next yearI wouldn’t mind trying it but I don’t want another tree in the yard. Is there a way to buy pollen?
I totally agree with you , I hear more and more people willing to try after seeing the results. Its going to become more popular when people realize how easy it is to perform. Like they say "the proof is in the pudding " , once you try a caprified fig you will understand.I’ve been posting pollination results videos all summer but sadly I don’t have a following like Ross so many don’t even see my channel. Each variety was different, seems the eye was more open when they were perfect but I would say marble to large grape as an average size. It was roughly when they stopped getting bigger of the first stage but before the second stage growth.Always wondered at what stage do you apply the pollen to the figs. Most figs take 90 days to mature so when is the pollen injected into them, 30,60 or 90 days?
