Indoor Fig Propagation

Wondering if anyone on the forum is growing there figs strictly indoors under lights? If you are. Would love to hear about your setup. What lights you are using? What medium or what hydro setup you are using. I have thought about it a lot. But have only rooted cutting's indoors so far.

@"GoodFriendMike"#9 I have thought about it a lot Mike. I was once active in several aspects of indoor propagation. This was not that far back ago. High pressure sodium lights, and metal halide lights, both double hung type lights which were useful for mother plants. Those indoor varieties we're best with shorter internode length. I might be able to help answer a few questions. Everything revolves around the new LED lights these days. Basically if you use clean room rules, and tactics you could probably achieve a lot. No winter Shuffle no spring Shuffle. No dormancy. Perfect for breeding, and propagation programs 365 days a year. There are a few old veterans now playing with figs here, that might be helpful.

I used to root indoors, but these days I'm just too dang busy.
These are different times than just 5 years ago, seems I had more time to mess with trying out different techniques.
Now we can't keep people at work and the ones we do keep just aren't making the grade.

Mike. I don't know if this counts... I gave a LSU Purple to a friend a few years ago... actually the grandson of my friend Giovanni who owns a garden centre nearby. Some time later he mentioned that he left it in his south window and it fruited like crazy... and never stopped. He said, if it ain't broke, don't fix it... years later he's still got it in the same window and just prunes down and produces what he describes as "lots of good figs" in a spare room.
