You guys are making me feel behind even though I know I’m not. Just planted out some 14 varieties of tomatoes and 5 varieties of peppers yesterday. I’m going to try some okra too, but waiting to start those as I don’t think they’ll tolerate the cool weather as much. I wonder if I’ll be the only dude in the Idaho panhandle growing okra.

Yea cucurbits sprout and grow so fast!! I have learned to just wait until April and direct sow. They will be producing my mid May then I succession sow another round to pick up when the first ones play out. Worked perfectly last year. We will see how that works this year! Lol!!

Planting outside in Idaho already?

I started peppers a few days ago, tomatoes will be this week, calendulas and marigolds next week, carrots and beets the following week direct sown in the garden and ending with pumpkins, cucumbers, zinnias and castor beans the last week in March. If all goes well everything to be transplanted first week of May.

I meant planted seeds. No planting out for at least a month. Still 40’s/20’s here. I’m taking a chance starting seeds this early because the winter has been so mild.

Thank you!! You are correct. I had a lot of issues with damping off last year. This year topped with perlite and zero losses. The seedlings pushed right the no problem!
