How to FigBid?

Trying to make sure I understand and am using that site correctly.

I bought some of the uline poly bags for fig pops from there a week ago. Or at least I thought I did. I had entered in my info and clicked purchase.

Then I got an email 3 days ago saying I had a pending invoice for my purchase. So i checked mypal history and lo and behold i was never actually charged for anything. So i then followed the link that the email gave to my invoice and filled out the PayPal info again.

As far as I can tell that time it worked because I saw the transaction on my PayPal this time. But that was 3 days ago so I thought I'd log in to check the status (see if it was shipped yet)

I go to https://figbid.com/Account/Bidding/Won and see my purchase and click the url there but it seems to just take me to the item page as if I am trying to buy another one. So I go back to my won page and click "More Actions" and click the option to view the invoice.

On the invoice page I see the icon marking it as paid along with my billing and shipping info. Below that I see it says "shipping via other" and below that there's the "shipping history" section but it just says "NoShippingtHistory"

Is this all correct and working as intended? Or have I exposed some kind of bug with figbid on my first purchase lol.

Log in and go to the purchases tab under your username. It should show the status of paid or not.
The invoices tab will also give you information.
It is a marketplace, and tracking numbers are up to the seller to upload.
Check the listing and see what days the seller ships.

Some sellers are great about uploading information others don't and your order will arrive , usually within the window stated in the description or listing.

I think what confused me is i received an email saying "Congratulations! You purchased the following: item" which made me think it was done and done. But then 3 days later got another email telling me to pay an invoice. Im just not used to that kind of flow so wasn't sure if I did something wrong

You can purchase items but you need to go and pay for the invoice to complete the transaction.

Another way to know that the transaction is complete is you will be directed to Paypal to confirm the purchase. If you do that operation with Paypal you are complete.
I know what you are saying about clicking the button and thinking you are done, sometimes you have to go to the invoice page and checkout from there if it didnt get you over to Paypal for the confirmation.

Go to figbid and click on the portion that says “hi, your screen name” then the drop down will have a list that drops down and you click on purchase history. There you will get a list of things you have purchased. At the bottom of each thing you have purchased you will have 3 blue links. View sellers other items, leave feedback, and more actions. You click on the more actions and then it opens up to 3 more options contact, save this seller, and view invoice. Click view invoice. Then your invoice will pop open. If it does not have a red stamp that says paid on it then that invoice has not been paid by you. If you click on view invoice and you see a red paid stamp and a green shipped stamp then it’s in its way to you. Figbid has two ways to pay. One being PayPal and the other being the stripe function where you can use a credit card or debit card. Either way you choose to pay you must make sure that the purchase has been paid for in order for the seller to go ahead and ship out that order. Sometimes the payment fails which I find happens allot more on stripe payments with a buyer thinking payment went through and then it did not. I was in talks with @FiggyEd to talk with Danny of figbid and make a how to video on how to properly use figbid so people can get the most out of the site. That way buyers can learn the ropes and then also show people things on the back end from the sellers prospective as well.

The FAQ section has pretty comprehensive instructions for the different features, functions, and polices for the site.

Yes I agree but not everyone is the type to read all that and some are visual learners. A video would help those visual learners that get lost in the sauce of all that text and sometimes feel overwhelmed reading all that.

@paupau This is not a bug. Several processes converged at the same time causing your purchase to not be seen. Here's what happened.

A member makes a purchase and is confused by the "You Won" email. Yes, that can certainly be confusing. figBid veterans understand the process. That is not an excuse but it's definitely is a crutch. The email goes back to the days before figBid had a dedicated shopping cart and checkout. A member wins an auction or makes a purchase and received the email. The (now) buyer could pay for the item directly from the listing. Hence the link back to the item.

The email is still necessary but the content is wrong. As I'm still working on a few large customizations I have not put much thought into this but will put it on priority now.

The next thing that happened is timing. A buyer may think they've already paid but did not. The fix for this was to add reminder messages. The problem occurs when an invoice is unpaid for an amount of time and the seller is high volume; the sale gets pushed down the screen and out of the sellers' view right away, then eventually falls to the next page and is not seen at all, unless the seller goes to the next page. figBid has a sorting tool that reveals items needing to be shipped however, we never built a visual tool that will alert a seller, "hey you have an item on another page that needs to be shipped". It just wasn't necessary. By end of day I will have a ticket submitted to devs for this.

We are still working on morning email and then shipping. Your purchase is paid and going out by this afternoon. Please accept our apologies for the confusion.

I don't "do" Figbid, because I don't "do" paypal. I am old and set in my ways. I have amassed a small collection of pretty good figs without either. I only have 2 on a wish list because I am almost out of room to raise them. The two I still want are supposedly early (important here in Ohio) and have good flavor.
On the other hand I enjoy Figbid because I can look at differing varieties, most of which would not fit my situation, but interesting nonetheless!

Thanks for the explanation. As a software developer myself I totally understand how disjointed design can get from expectations. Hopefully sharing my "first timer" experience will help bridge the gap.

@NYCfigs
Thanks for the continued work on improving your website. I enjoy using it as a Buyer and Seller. I would love to have a feature where I can offer discount codes and have them redeemed at checkout. This past Fall I offered a discount to my local Facebook group that utilized my account items, I ended up refunding them the offered discount back to their Paypal. I felt it brought a fair number of buyers to my items and Figbid as a whole. Would be great to have a streamlined process for that kind of thing.

@DCallahan Thank you for suggestion. The ticket for discount codes has been sitting for quite a while. I'll be testing a release (for sellers) this whole week then put discounts on top. I would like to have that added between end of summer and Halloween.

@BruceB we've planned some cool additions to figBid for armchair collectors, too. Thank you for checking out the site and the kind words.
