How mule figs split

My RDB set a whole bunch of mule figs this year for some mysterious reason. RBD is a splitter when the weather get cooler and wetter. I had no idea, but this is how mule figs split.

I’ve had some mules forming as well. I have so many figs this year I just hope I get them to ripen soon without splitting. This fricken weather just flips the switch to cold all of a sudden.

Good point, like a switch. Went from hot days and warm nights to warm days and cool nights just like that, without any warning.

I am paying attention to which ones split and which ones don't, so I target them for ripening in September/October. Something like RDB is definitely not ideal for our fall weather.
