I’m loving seeing everything everyone shares and posts on this forum…you all are an awesome community! I look forward to growing my fig collection so that I can share with others. It’s small still, I’m constantly rooting something. If you have suggestions on what I could use or add to the wishlist please let me know.

I’ll have my first Scion exchange in the new year and I would love to expand the collection to be able to share with fellow rare fruit growers.

Keep growing,

Ryan

šŸ˜‚ Tetris was one of the favorites for years. Thank you all for the kind words. I have probably 30% less than over the summer. My wife is happier with me now…although the collection is like a constant battle keeping it from growing out of control.

I found a graduate student garden at a nearby university that I’ve been donating some excess to for good use/cause. I can’t wait to give them some of my figs to taste and grow.

This is the most positive addiction that I have had in life, as long as I manage it like all of my others. It has lead me to meet the kindest and greatest groups of people, my people, the plant and fungi kingdom caretakers. Y’all are the best!

I love it! I think the reality is that most of us wish we had more space but I really admire what you're doing

Also, are you doing that cool thing where you paint half of the pots white to keep that side facing the sun?

I have wanted to grow the black magic petunia along with many other ā€œgothā€ dark flower/foliage plants. Please let us know how that one does and welcome to the forum
It grew really well this year, had to prune it back a few times due to vigor. My wife loves goth gardens, so we’re always on the lookout for something dark. I hope to propagate it from cuttings to give to friends.

Yes, it can get pretty hot here in the summer, so it helps to keep the roots a bit cooler. And then in winter the black helps to keep them a bit warmer. Only did it to the pots that get direct sun.

Also,I name most of my plants and write their names on the pots. Sometimes the names are sentimental and they remind me of loved ones lost and their beauty…my 3 hibiscus are
Linda, Lucy, and Paula after grandmothers and ladies that had a big impact on who I am. I get reminded of the beauty and grace they showed me through my flowers.
