Heating Mat

This video puts my mind at easy. I only had my cuttings directly on the heat mat for 2 days. Now I have a towel and ceramic tile between. Mike had these cuttings at 100+F and they were rooting.

I'm glad the video was helpful!

I've had some issues with heat mat's. The temp controller is definitely a good idea but I've found them to be uneven with hot and cool spots. Even with the controller, it needs to be in the right place.

I once used rigid insulation as a buffer from a cold concrete floor and this happened. They shouldn't even get this hot.

I still use them for stuff but now I use several layers of corrugated cardboard with no plastic on both sides.
wow. thank you for the heads up. i have 2 of these mats in my house that are running most of the time, doing different jobs depending on my needs. when i use them to grow mushrooms or in my grow room i use a thermostat, but the rest of the time they are just plugged in and left on. i will definitely be putting some safety measures in place before i burn my house down!
they say they have an internal thermostat to prevent this kind of thing happening but clearly they don't work very well.
